Ellen Chen, Ph.D.

President/ Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Ellen Chen, is the founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Biomimetic Sensors, Inc. from June, 2006 to present. Dr. Chen is a highly recognized inventor in nano biomimetic sensing and especially in development of revolutionary electrolyte-free and oxygen-free fuel cells and batteries. Dr. Chen  received a Doctorate degree in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University (PU), West Lafayette, Indiana in 1994.  After graduation from PU,  Dr. Chen was a Postdoctoral Oak Ridge Fellow at the USFDA in 1995, after the first year she became a Staff Fellow at the USFDA. Gradually Ellen had the responsibilities to be the Principal Investigator, and the project manager at FDA.

  
Ellen's research interests are in biosensor, fuel cell, nanotechnology, biomimetic material and clinical research.   Dr. Chen has 15 years experience in developing innovative biosensor systems; especially in nano-structured sensors for environmental and human health applications.  Dr. Chen is a pioneer in nano structured biomimetic sensors.  She has invented unique sensors and held IPs.  Dr. Chen has been a Principal Investigator in conducting innovative research for more than 20 years.  Dr. Chen also has years experience in conducting multiple-center clinical research projects.   Ellen led a research team for developing a gold industry standard for evaluation of the performance of the self-monitoring blood glucose meters for the benefit of 21 million diabetes.  Her team received the FDA's research team recognition award in 2001.  Her team published paper was cited by the FDA Commissioner in the Commissioner’s public annual report in 2003.  She also served as a Senior Scientific Consultant and an Scientific Representative for FDA from 1997-2002; Ellen received 12 awards for her significant contributions in research projects and consultations for improving human health at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at FDA.  She has been a referee for several prestige journals.  She was the honoree listed in Woman in Bio National Meeting at Washington DC in 2008 and 2009.
 
Dr. Chen received a certificate in Who’s Who in Executive Professional in America, a certificate in Who’s Who International Professional,  and a certificate in Cambridge Who’s Who of Executive Professional and Entrepreneurs from 2007-2012.   She is a member of American Chemical Society, a member of IEEE, a member of American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
